How Would Jesus Vote?
What if Jesus were living on earth today, going about daily life as
He did in the first century? For whom would He vote for President? This
means no desire to make a political statement, and has no intention of
speaking for particular party, for normally politics and preachers
in pulpits should not mix. Yet, there are still some things that need to
be stated and considered by decent, law-abiding, godly people regarding
the upcoming election. Many differ on political issues, but we MUST agree
on and submit to our Heavenly Father’s will in moral matters. Solomon,
in the long ago, declared this undeniable truth: “Righteousness exalteth
a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). Christians
can not (with God’s approval and blessings) be involved in, nor support
sinful actions and ways. Paul admonished the Corinthians (who also lived
in a wicked, immoral environment) to “Awake to righteousness, and sin not…”
(1 Corinthians 15:34). He told them to “…come out from among them, and
be ye separate…” (2 Corinthians 6:17). For a nation to be righteous, it
must have righteous leaders (Proverbs 25:6 and 29:2). The Bible demonstrates
that God will oppose rulers who support wickedness (Psalm 2:2-3, 10-12;
Daniel 4:24-32). God is interested in our government. Read Romans 13:1-4,
especially the phrase “the powers that be are ordained by God.” God is
in control. America has been richly blessed for centuries. God has given
her great opportunities, and she has been a light to others throughout
the world. The question should further be asked: Will God always bless
America? The clear answer is found
in historical records of great nations and empires that rose to prominence
and then collapsed. America is not invincible, infallible, nor beyond destruction.
PLEASE, Give Attention To The Following Concerns: God declares the shedding
of innocent blood as one of the things He hates (Proverbs 6:16-18). A vast
number of folks today shout for “choice” with little or no consideration
for the life of a baby (yes, the Bible declares beyond question that, that
which grows within the womb of a woman is a child, a babe, a human being,
(Psalm
139:13; 51:5; Luke 1:44). God declares that man lying with man and
woman lying with woman is an abomination, that which is against nature,
a damning action (Romans 1:29-32; Ephesians 5:31; Leviticus 18). The vocal
minority are clamoring for the “right” to marry (man with man and woman
with woman), equal rights to others (man and woman) who are married, etc.
God has (once and for all time) defined marriage as between one man and
one woman (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:31). How can a Christian support financially,
verbally, or with their vote any candidate who endorses the ungodly, anti-Biblical
view of homosexuals? God declares that each life is precious and valuable
to Him (Matthew 16:26), and should not be frivolously “harvested’ (stem
cells) for tests and research. Let’s put such action into raw words:
Creating human embryos for their stem cells IS making the beginning of
little babies for the purpose of harvesting their parts. Friends, God’s
word still demands, “You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13).
Can We Support Candidates Who Promote Evil?
(As God Has Defined Evil)
A Christian should NOT vote for one known to promote, has a proven
voting record, or one who has declared their agenda of such evil works
and wickedness. The Bible instructs us to be separate from the world (2
Corinthians 6:17), and to have no fellowship with the unfruitful (evil)
works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11). John tells us that we can become partakers
of evil deeds without actually doing those deeds (2 John 9-11). The Election
IS IMPORTANT Again, I am not speaking politically, except as it influences
our nation morally.
This election is important from a moral standpoint. In the next four
years in America several moral issues will be addressed and likely
a specific direction charted. It is likely the next president will appoint
as many as three Supreme Court justices. The Supreme Court will render
judgments, determining many moral issues for the majority of America. A
FINAL NOTE: Do not allow the liberal media to convince you that YOUR VOTE
is not needed, that one candidate has already won. Every vote counts. Your
vote is important. Take your stand for
righteousness. Allow others to know what you believe and why you believe
it. While everything we do and say should be done in kindness and
love, it is cowardly to decline to “take a stand” against evil. Follow
the example of our Lord, as He was strong, courageous, and stood for
what was right, even when it was not popular. He lived a godly life, even
when it meant harm to Himself. He sought to teach others toward a life
of holiness. Do your part to turn this nation’s government back toward
God, back to righteousness, to take one step at a time toward being a “godly
nation” once again. Make your final decisions on issues that are in harmony
with the will of the Father.
