Some Things God Will Not Do, #2

This is our second article on things that God will not do. We add the following reasons to the article used a several weeks ago. (4) GOD WILL NOT FORCE A MAN TO OBEY: Calvinism teaches that God “preelects” who will be saved, and through the Holy Spirit “leads” the “elect” to salvation. This false doctrine teaches that anyone “elected” cannot resist the Spirit’s call. This is the same as saying that God forces men to obey. The scripture teaches that man can resist the Holy Spirit’s call, “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers
did, so do ye” (Acts 7:51). The call is made through the word of God, “So then faithcometh by  hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17); the gospel, “But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: {14} Whereunto
he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14). The plan of salvation is only for those who obey, “And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” (Hebrews 5:9). The call is for everyone to
obey, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). Luke explains what is meant by: “call upon the name of the Lord” in (Acts 22:16) “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Obeying God is a choice for all of us, but no one will force us to obey, not even God. (5) GOD WILL NOT GIVE US A SECOND CHANCE AFTER DEATH: The doctrine of “second chance” is false and gives a false
hope. The idea of a “purgatory” (where men are purged of their sins) is completely foreign to the word of God. Paul said: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every
one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). The reward or punishment in heaven or hell will be for the works done while in this physical body. There is nothing we can do, nor can be done for us, after death: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). (6) GOD WILL NOT CHANGE THE CONDITIONS OF SALVATION: Which are: BELIEVE: (John 8:24) “I said therefore unto
you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” (John 3:16) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” REPENT: (Luke 13:3) “I tell you, Nay: but, except
ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Acts 17:30) “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:” CONFESS: (Matthew 10:32) “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” (Romans 10:10) “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” BAPTISM: (Mark 16:16) “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Acts 2:38) “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (1 Peter 3:21) “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” (Galatians 3:27) “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Men argue with the plan, but God has set it,
and will not change even one condition. God calls everyone today to obey His plan of salvation. It is our choice. We will make the decision that will decide whether we are punished for eternity, or if we will be with our Heavenly Father for eternity.
